Hoy asistía con ciertas expectativas a un evento llamado The API Hour, organizado por el Centro de Innovación BBVA y que aglutinaba a responsables de empresas como Tuenti, PayPal, Cool-Tabs o Ticketea, que, como habréis adivinado por el título del evento, iban a hablar de la relevancia de las APIs. La cosa no empezaba mal: dos de los responsables del CI BBVA presentaron el evento con gracia y con una perspectiva general de lo que es una API y la importancia que éstas tienen hoy en día. Que es mucha por cierto, algo de lo que se han dado cuenta muchas grandes de Internet que al liberar su API logran que terceras partes potencien el uso de un servicio que de otro modo estaría limitado a esa empresa creadora del servicio.
Pero lo que pintaba medio interesante se convirtió durante la mayor parte en un «yo vengo a hablar de mi libro». Salvo por algún apunte interesante, el evento volvió a demostrar que hoy en día la mayoría de los «speakers» se limitan a hacr un publirreportaje de su empresa o proyecto, algo que es perfecto si uno está allí para conocer más sobre esa empresa, pero que no lo es en absoluto cuando el objetivo era ampliar conocimientos sobre un tema general como en este caso las APIs.
